Arbors: ½"-24 threads. Inner flange-die cast aluminum. Outer flange-stamped steel.
Based on the label, color and composition, the wheels appear to be the originals.
The RH wheel is 70 grit Grade O.
The LH wheel is 46 grit Grade O. (Note the 5730rpm top speed.)
Missing: both tool rests, LH eye shield, both eye shield glass inserts.
Note: this was the first year of the ¼ hp bench grinder with eye shields.
>>HISTORY<<
Craigslist find-Chelsea Michigan, 28May2010.
Previous owner bought it from possibly the original owner at least 10-15 years prior.
No further history available.
30May2010: Disassembled.
Original ND (USA) 8502 bearings are in excellent condition. Flushed, repacked, and reinstalled.
The switch is undersized and not the original--replaced with motor rated toggle.
Original cord insulation is hardened and cracking--replaced.
Both sets of guard bolts were loose.
Stand is thin sheet metal for some other function--unstable, repurpose elsewhere.
Cleaned motor interior prior to reassembly.
Not going to refinish the paint at this time--it will be a user machine.
April 2011: Fabricated tool rests from ¼" thick steel. Nice smooth running grinder.
