After a fruitless 38 year search for a tenoning jig here in South Africa, I was offered one for free through the generosity of Glenn Williamson of Slaton Texas. Glenn was a complete stranger to me and you can imagine the surprise when he offered it to me. Glenn had read a post of mine on OWWM Forum concerning the fact that I had never had the opportunity of even seeing one let alone getting one. He had been to a College auction and had come across a tenoning jig there which he bought with me in mind. Glenn acquired the jig during 2008 and then in 2009 contacted me for the first time to say he had one for me if we could work out how to get it to South Africa. We decided to get it over via USPS. Because of its weight 30 lbs it could not be sent over in one parcel so we decided to take a chance and split it up into two parcels. One parcel would have only the two main body parts whilst the other would have the heavy base plate plus all the other pieces that go with the jig. The two parcels were sent on the same day 12th March 2010 and the first arrived on 4th April the second a week later 9th April. There was much worrying on my part when the two parcels did not arrive together but all was well. The jig originally was rough painted cream and had a damaged tote which would have been hard to repair. I made one using the original as a template out of Meranti, a Malayasian wood. The jig was totally restored and cleaned up. An amazing turn of events for me and extremely grateful at that.
The last two photos show the respective parcels on their arrival date. Taken before opening just for the record.

Parcel No. 1 arrived 1st April 2010. There was a tear on the bottom edge which had been taped up by someone.
