This drill has a 1/2" straight shank chuck. Quill travel is 4" with 22 turns of the top feed wheel. That wheel has 67 teeth that can be selected at one tooth per crank, two per crank or three per crank. There are 58 teeth on the primary crank shaft, 28 on the secondary crank and 26 on the mandrel. The crank handle can be mounted on either right side shaft. The top mounted flywheel is 17 1/2". It weighs 164 lbs. The board is original and and has stencil print on it (see photo 4). The feed arm is broken and the pawl is missing. Photo 3 shows the drive throw out grove detailed in 1892 patent 480907. This disconnects the downward feed when the end of travel is reached. Apparently the drill could be broken if the operator did not pay attention while drilling and continued to crank. Stamped onto the chuck is " BOYNTON & PLUMMER MAKERS WORCESTER MASS" and "25". The "25" could be a serial number but is more likely a machinist mark to mate parts. In Photo 6 you can see where ".T.H.A" is stamped twice into the wood board. Are these the owner's mark? Were they stamped backwards since there is a leading period?

Stencil detail, pretty sure it says "Boynton & Plummer Worcester Mass around the perimeter and "No 2" in the center.
