Submitted a WTB on BOYD on the dot org site for a Walker Turner Radial Drill press. I received several replies and based on condition and location I chose this one. This was actually owned by someone that is not a member of the site, but recommended to me by a fellow OWWM member. I drove 20 hours round trip out to Oklahoma City from Illinois. Took about an hour to remove the legs and load it into my pick up. The guy I bought it from told me it came out of the University of Oklahoma. It did have a laminated “LUBRICATION DATA FORM 70-28 REV 8/55” pined to the lower belt guard which makes me think it possibly was government surplus at one time. From the looks of it, it was used a metal shop due to the amount of metal shavings and oil on the table and inside the upper carriage. Took me several weeks to dismantle, clean, strip the “Clown Colors”, replace bearings, rebuild the motor, and rewire. Plan on putting a “Mr Sawdust” Radial Arm Saw type table on it with some ‘T” tracks, similar to the drill press tables that Rockler sells. The motor is a 1/3 hp 3 phase old style motor. I am using a GE 115v single phase VFD to run the motor.
