This machine might better be called a foot-powered shaper. It's used to cut window sash. It came with several sets of knives. I obtained it from a lady in Shelton, WA, who told me it had been used in the construction of the Washington state capitol building in nearby Olympia, WA. I have since traded it off for a stand-mounted Perkins No. 8 Universal Trimmer.
The machine has left and right fences and knives. The fences are adjustable for different angles, and also have stops that can be set to frequently-used settings. After the workpiece is positioned properly on the fence, the foot pedal is depressed, moving the knife through the workpiece.
