This was my first restoration project, and I really enjoyed working on this machine. I purchased the DP from Clist from a guy cleaning out his garage. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of it when I first got it home. The thing was coated in thick grease, and stunk up my small workshop so bad that I had to completely disassemble it and clean it with oven cleaner to get rid of the smell. While it was disassembled, I figured I should paint it too. The table had some pitting and I spent a couple of hours sanding the table, until I gave up and called it good. I might return to the table again at a latter date. I haven't had a chance to do much drilling yet, but it runs very smooth and the Montgomery Ward fully enclosed 1/2 hp motor is surprisingly quiet. I'm concerned that the chuck jaws are worn but I'll cross that bridge once Ive got a dial indicator to help me isolate the case of the run out. I'm looking forward to polishing the shinny metal parts as soon as I pickup a bench grinder/polisher. The motor on the drill press weights a ton, and seems to have a cast iron case.
