Been looking for a Delta or Rockwell 12" disc sander for years now. Saw an ad Monday on C*list. Sent an email, but no response Monday. I thought he'd sold it already. Then Tuesday morning, I got a call from the owner. He said he posted the ad, then had errands to run/things to do on Monday. So Tuesday, he thought he'd look to see if he got any responses; he had over 20 and I was the first one! :)
He was second owner. It belonged to the Kansas City MO School District before him (stencil KCMSD on stand). He was a kiln repair man and used the sander to squaure up kiln bricks. Said he didn't use it that much, two or three times a year, was retiring again (he's 71) and needed to clear out his garage.
It has a 1 HP TEFC motor, single phase, currently wired for 220V, and Furnas magnetic single phase switch. Will probably keep it 220V, since my Unisaw is wired the same way. It runs smooth and strong.
Plan to do a complete tear-down, clean and repaint. Will post finished results on the Forum when done. Probably mid-summer.
