Comments:
The machine was purchased from Brain Dumaine of Impressions Architectural Millwork in Houston, TX. It was complete and in well maintained condition. It also included the grinding bar, grinding attachment, jointing attachment, original dust hood and extra knives. To pay for this machine, I sold a 2005 Powermatic 201 planer (22") for almost the same price that Brian was asking for this one. Plus, the buyer of the Powermatic included a stack of quality Cypress lumber.

Brian sent the planer to Dallas which made pickup easier - except that during the loading process the forklift operator tipped the machine off the side of the trailer. Fortunately, the only damage was to the starter cover and the fender of my trailer. Once home, I unloaded it with the loader on my John Deere tractor then rolled it into place on a pair of steel "U" beams and 3/4" black pipe. It was set up to run on 440v, so everything had to be reconfigured to run on 240v. This included a rather convoluted bit of acrobatics to access the junction box on the feed motor, which was underneath the machine and required a mirror to see the leads. New wiring to supply the RPC was also needed in order to handle the larger motor.

The planer cutterhead is driven by a 10hp Westinghouse motor and feed power is supplied by a 1-1/2 hp motor. Speed is controlled by a Reeves drive type arrangement operated with a dial on the lower right front of the machine. The feed motor will not engage unless the cutterhead is running. There is a separate start button for each motor and a single "off" button.

Quite an impressive machine - one for which I had searched for some time.
