The following photos were submitted by Kirk Poore in Oct. 2005. Here is what Kirk shared with us about his visit:
"I got over to downtown St Louis today and took some pictures of the main Yerkes & Finan factory building. It is located on the southwest corner of 9th Street and Dock Street, with Interstate 70 immediately behind it. There is quite a bit of old paint on the brick, but none of it dates back as far as Y&F as near as I can tell. The building apparently held a furniture factory at one time. My 1941 map shows it occupied by Vitro Products, a manufacturer of chrome house and hotel equipment. It's interesting that the "Vitro Products" sign is still quite visible. Right now it is occupied by "Royalty Racing", a motorcycle racing, customizing, and repair outfit.
"I've included the three pictures I took. The 1909 map indicated no buildings other than a storage building at the back of lot, so the brick building visible to the left in the frontal picture was not Y&F. In fact, it isn't on the 1909 map, just the 1941 map, so it probably post-dates Y&F. I find that the factory pictures give me a sense of real connection to these old companies, not just a dry abstraction of a listing in a directory or even a tiny sample like you'd find in a catalog.
