The form of traction engine constructed by Messrs. Garrett and Son, represented in fig. 108, nearly resembles one of the forms employed by Messrs. Aveling and Porter; and most of these forms, it will be observed, are the natural development of the common portable farm- engine, which common sense indicates should be made capable of being put to as many useful purposes as possible. |
