A Six Spindle Rail Boring Machine for Dowel Doors
The illustration herewith relates to a companion machine to the manufacturers’ No. 3 twenty-four spindle dowel door boring machine and was designed to meet the demand for a rapid and accurate boring machine for the rails of dowel doors.
It will bore two or three holes at both ends or the rails at one time, and take stock from 25 inches to 31 inches long. The front spindle only is adjustable from 1 1/8 inches to 4 inches; the two rear spindles are not adjustable, and are 1 1/8 inch centers.
The operator places his material up against the adjustable stops, presses his foot on the treadle, and both head stocks come forward to proper depth (which can be varied by means of stops, any depth up to 3½ inches) and then returns.
The sizes as given are for the standard machine. Variations can be made in the length of stiles to be bored, the centers of the holes and the depth, to suit the prospective user's requirements.
The machine will bore enough stiles a day for 2,500 doors or more, according to the speed of the operator. and with it is furnished one set of six ½ or 9/16-inch bits, together with all wrenches and countershaft. The last mentioned has 10x6inch tight and loose pulleys, and should make 500 revolutions per minute.
