Portable Engines
An engine which is merely a portable and not a traction engine is now of comparatively limited value on the farm. It answers for steam threshing, and even for steam cultivating in the roundabout system; but in either of these cases it has to be moved to and fro by horses, and for all other purposes it may as well be a stationary engine. Fig. 12 is an illustration of Garrett's Compound Portable Engine. |
