Image Description:
Fig. 50 shows the latest design of their smallest horizontal engine, giving 1 and 2 B.H.P. with a speed of 330 revolutions per minute. Engines for electric lighting are made from 400 to 500 B.H.P., to work with town or producer gas, and nearly 10,000 H.P. have been supplied for this purpose, generated by single-cylinder, two, and four-cylinder engines. For working hoists, pumping water or sewage, they are sometimes coupled direct on one base plate.
