Image Description:
We illustrate herewith the new plant of the Witte Iron Works Company, at Centropolis, a subburb of Kansas City, Mo. This is without doubt one of the most modern gas engine plants in America, and was put up only after careful investigation of many other gas engine plants in the Unitecl States, for the purpese of embodying every good feature therein, and eliminating defects in construction, material, handling, manufacturing, etc. The plant occupies about three acres, over one acre of which is under roof. It is the intention of the company to manufacture all styles and sizes of gas engines capable of being operated on any grade of liquid or gaseous fuels.

The capacity of the plant at present is about 3.000 engines per annum. They have their own gas well, giving a capacity of more than ten times their need. The factory is exceptionally light and well ventilated, and the test floor accommodations in particular are unequaled. Two railroads enter the works at depressed switches for easy loading, and traveling cranes carry heavy work in all directions.

We expect in the near future to have illustrations showing the work under way and method of doing various kinds of work. The company has been in business some thirty-seven years, nearly twenty of which have been devoted exclusively to gas and gasoline engines.
