Image Description:
A front-slide type of brass-finishers' lathe is illustrated in Fig. 266. The feeds are through two-stepped belt-pulleys, which are interchangeable on their spindles, thus giving four changes, through worm gears and mitre-wheels driving the feed-screw. Hand traverse is effected by the hand-wheel in front of the headstock. Taper turning can be done by the compound slide-rest, and a capstan-rest can be fitted if desired. This is a useful type of lathe for plain work, and is used somewhat extensively. The particular example illustrated is by the Britannia Co., of Colchester.
