Image Description:
The engraving above shows in perspective, a new design for electric motors adopted by the Electrical Engineering Company, of this City. The same general arrangement is common to all their motors, from 1 to 150 horsepower, and is one of the most symmetrical that has appeared. The motors of this company, constructed on the system of Professor N. S. Keith, return a greater share of the initial power than any that have been tried on this Coast, and possess advantages in their electrical features, regulation for one thing, that should secure for them a wide adoption in power distribution. The company have just supplied a fifteen horse power motor for propelling or drawing gang plows in the Sacramento Valley, the circuit wire winding and unwinding by means of a reel on the traction engine or machine. The experiments in gang plowing have this far promised economy and success.

Our City is now well "sprinkled" over with these! motors, and being a home product, with all their parts interchangeable, so as to enable cheap repairs, and a responsible company to guarantee their operation, there seems no reason why the manufacture should not be rapidly and successfully extended.

There are thousands of places yet unsupplied, where such motors can be successfully employed, not only where less convenient apparatus is in use, but where operations now performed by hand can be shortened and cheapened by electric motors. Their convenience and adaptability is not known until proved by use.
