The Charter Gas and Gasoline Engine
The Charter is a representative of one of the earliest types of American gas engines. It has gone through its evolution of improvement, and claims to be a model of simplicity. It is of the four-cycle compression type. It runs equally well with illuminating gas, natural gas, and gasoline. It is built in nine sizes, from 1¼ to 35 B. H. P.
Fig. 74 represents the smallest size, No. 00, which is vertical and of 1¼ B. H. P. Both tube and electric ignition are used with these engines. |
