From a discussion about an E. E. Abbott lathe in an owwm.org forum: http://owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=115797
Compare these photos to the Images entry titled, "1879 Etchings—Leeds Foundry".
The captions below the photos are truncated. Full captions are given here.
Image 1: Here it is, with some openings enlarged and others filled in with stone, and buried up to the second floor.
Image 2: The old loading door has been enlarged to make a loading dock for a semi-trailer, and the grade has been raised so the loading dock is at the right height. Projecting over the old loading door at the roof level, there is a wooden hoisting beam that looks to be in good shape still. It probably lowered my lathe onto a wagon in the 1870s.
Image 3: The east side isn't as badly beat up or buried. |
