Image Description:
Garwood Electric Company. This company employs the frames of their line of standard belted generators, shown in Fig. 19, for constant-speed motors of the larger sizes. These machines are wound for 125, 250, or 500 volts, ranging from 30 to 250 II. P. at many different speeds between 570 and 220 R. P. M. Their type SL machines, illustrated in Fig. 20, give rise to constant speed motors ranging from 1½ to 40 H. P., either shunt or compound.
They are wound for 110, 220, 440, 125, 250, or 500 volts. The greatest speed is 1,700 R. P. M. and the lowest 630 R. P. M. for any machine of this design. They are also arranged for ceiling and wall mounting, as well as with vertical shaft. All of these varieties can also be semi-enclosed or fully enclosed. With proper windings they become adjustable-speed motors and are built for a speed variation of 5 to 1. Figs. 72, 73, and 74 are illustrations of these machines. This company also ', manufactures multi-speed motors with two armature windings and double commutators, as shown in Fig. 75. They are used for running printing presses when equipped with series-parallel method of control. In the large sizes they employ the same frames as their standard belted generators.
