Image Description:
A RAPID cut power saw made by the Robertson Manufacturing Co., of Buffalo, N. Y., is shown in the accompanying illustration. The Robertson Co. have made a specialty of metal-cutting power saws for a number of
years, and are now making six sizes, the principle in each being the same. The one illustrated herewith is the largest size and is particularly adapted to cutting off squares where the cut is required to go a certain depth and stop.
The frame of the carriage is raised to the desired height by means of a crank at the top of the upright column, which has a screw engaging with a nut stud in the centre of the carriage bearing. The saw frame is then raised to the desired position, and the work is secured in the vise. The machine is started by pulling a lever, which engages a clutch and the saw continues to cut until it reaches the point set for it to stop. This machine has a capacity of 12 by 15 inches, with a 24-inch blade. For small work a short blade may he used by moving the outer arm along the top bar to accommodate the length of blade desired. Among the advantages claimed for this machine are the following: — It requires no attention after starting, having a gravity feed. It is constructed so that the frame is raised on the return stroke to relieve the drag on the teeth and give more even parallel cuts have been made off bars 1/64 inch thick.
