The machine shown in Fig. 4 illustrates one size of tour-head milling machine, made by the Ingersoll Milling Machine Company, and an idea of the size of the largest of these machines can be gained from the following figures which apply to the 81-inch miller. The table is 73 inches wide by 15 feet long. It will take in work 82 inches wide and is 40 inches high from the top of the table to vertical spindles. The total
right-hand vertical spindle has an automatic reversible feed across the machine.
By reason of this combination of four spindles, both horizontal and vertical, together with a wide range of adjustments, this style of machine is particularly well adapted to a great variety of work.
