The Chattanooga Plow Co.
What was an insignificant and isolated shop at the beginning of the year 1883, in which three men started to make a few plows with an anvil and hammer on the banks of the Tennessee River under the shadow of historic Lookout Mountain, is today the great plow works of the Chattanooga Plow Company, of Chattanooga, Tenn., U. S. A., giving employment to hundreds of men in its spacious and fully equipped manufacturing plant. The illustration herewith shows the company's large plant, although this photograph does not include the new powerhouse erected during the present year at an expense of $75,000. This plant is equipped with all modern up-to-date machinery for the manufacture of high-grade agricultural implements.
The Chattanooga Plow Company has kept fully abreast of the expansion of American commerce in foreign lands and has made preparations to extend its export trade to the most remote outside markets. An export department has recently been created to energetically undertake the mission of opening new markets abroad for its manufactures, and several representatives, assisted by experts, are already doing missionary work in introducing the “Chattanooga” modern among farming people in Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceanica, West Indies, Mexico, Central and South America.
The Chattanooga implements and machinery are already well known in most of the important agricultural centers in South America, where the exports for the fiscal year of 1904 have reached considerable proportions. The Chattanooga Plow Company manufactures an excellent line of chilled plows, disc plows, cotton planters, sugar cane mills, evaporators, and other articles about which complete descriptive matter printed in different languages is furnished postpaid upon application to the main office at Chattanooga, Tennessee, U. S. A., to anyone interested in agriculture.
Further particulars can also be obtained by addressing the export representative of the company, Mr. Thos. Ryan, Jr., at 68 Broad St., New York City. |
