Image Description:
Figs. 255 and 256 represent the lower portions of two pillar machines, built by the Cincinnati Bickford Tool Company, of America. The first illustration shows the simple belt cone-driving arrangement, and also the auxiliary table, which can be swung to one side when it is desired to mount large work directly upon the baseplate.

The second machine is driven by a single constant-speed belt through a gearbox of the rocking-arm type, which provides a variety of speeds indicated on the plate at the front of the box. It will be seen from the illustration that the auxiliary table can be swiveled to permit of inclined holes being drilled, and, in addition, there is provided a turntable.
