Image Description:
Another special machine, of a somewhat different type, is illustrated in fig. 241. It is in- tended for drilling seven holes in each end of steel car truck frames, and comprises two upright machines, one fixed and the other adjustable along a bed-plate. Each upright is entirely self-contained and is provided with a multiple spindle head, which is fed vertically along the face of the upright. Thus, the spindles, the centres of which are fixed, are fed all together down upon the work. Other heads, with different numbers and spacings of the spindles, can be provided, and the machine can therefore be adapted to suit a considerable range of work.
