Image Description:
The CAPITAL MACHINE TOOL COMPANY of Weedsport, N.Y., have just added to their line of tools what they term a patent Electric Vise. It has many new and important features, and the aim of the manufacturers has been to make a vise in which the weak points of those in the market shall be strengthened, the wearing parts made better able to stand wear and rough usage, and at the same time to give a vise which shall be simple and quick to oper ate, and in fact, as they say, make it superior to everything else in the market. The engraving shows the construction. It has a swivel jointed base with a spring dog to hold it in any given position. One movement in and a turn of the hand secures the work. The manufacturers write that they have at the present time but one size of this particular style in the market, but the tools for the other sizes are finished, and there will be nine other sizes on the market in a very short time. That shown in the en graving is known as “No. 15 swivel bottom.” The vises are neat in design, and are fitted to take Little Giant swivel pipe chuck attachment. This is arranged to hold pipe of a great variety of sizes, can be swiveled for any angle of long and short work quickly, and can be put in place in jaws and taken out again instantly. The quickness with which the pipe works can be judged from the fact that in disengaging the work it is merely necessary to turn the handle over the left until it reaches a horizontal position. At the same time the screw is disengaged from the nut and the jaw is then free to slide in and out. To grasp and hold the work it is merely necessary to push the sliding jaw up tight against the work to be held and turn the handle to the right.
