Image Description:
THE FREE PRESS has been favored with a copy of the new illustrated catalogue and price list of the Prentiss Vise Company, with offices at 44 Barclay street, New York city, and factory at Watertown, N. Y. The catalogue was issued from the press of Clarence S. Nathan, 202 Fulton street, New York, and is the handsomest of its kind we have seen sent out. The illustrations include the Prentiss' patent self adjusting jaw vise, Prentiss' patent iron-workers' vise, Prentiss' patent Fillers' or Finishers' vise, Prentiss' patent wood-workers' vise, Prentiss' patent watch-makers' vise, Prentiss' patent jewelers' vise, Prentiss' vise clamp, Prentiss' patent rapid transit vise, and rapid transit machinists' vise, Prentiss' rapid transit wood-workers' or coach-makers' vise , swivel bottom attachment for rapid transit vise, machinists' "Bull-Dog" vise, wood-workers' "Bull-Dog" vise, wrought iron solid box vise, Prentiss' new steel (channel) bar fillers' vise, Prentiss Vise Company' s heavy chipping vise; the largest in the market, Prentiss' improved combination pipe vise, Prentiss' new open side pipe vise, the "Gipsy" vise, new Peerless patent pipe grip, the Bingham vise-jaw caps and the "Eclipse" wrench attachment. With the exception of the "Gipsy," all of the above are manufactured at Watertown. The "Gipsy" is manufactured by the Havana Bridge Company of this village. The Prentiss is without doubt the finest vise in the market, and the Prentiss Vise Company, whose President is Gen. Jno. E. Mulford of this village, stands at the head of the list of vise manufacturers. The Company consists of General Mulford, Edwin Mulford, who is manager of the New York office, and Mortimer G. Lewis. This Company has made thousands of dollars on their patents. The FREE PRESS is pleased to note the success of the enterprise which originated in our village, and regrets exceedingly that the manufactory could not have been retained here when in its infancy, twenty years ago.
