The accompanying illustrations show the combined shear and punch which Jenkins & Lingle, Bellefonte, Pa., have just placed on the market. The shear is claimed to possess all the advantages to be found in the old-style lever or alligator shear without its weight. The shear, as seen in Fig. 1, may readily be converted into a punch, as shown in Fig. 2, by removing the knives and lower knife holder and attaching a punch and die holder. The machine is made in two sizes, Nos. 1 and 2. No. 1 will cut 1-inch round iron or 3 x ¾-inch flat iron and will punch a ¾-inch hole in ½-inch iron. No. 2 will cut 1 1/8-inch round iron or 4 x1-inch flat iron and will punch a ¾-inch hole in 5/8-inch iron. The knives in the shear are 6-inches long. |
