In the August, 1901, issue of The Blacksmith and Wheelwright I referred in a letter there printed to a home-made power hammer that I had built, and was thereupon invited by the editor to send a sketch or photograph of the same. I enclose herewith a photograph, from which your artist can make a sketch suitable for your columns and would simply repeat that I have never had the least trouble with this hammer and have used it on heavy iron 3x5/8” edgewise with entire success. I have perfect control of the hammer and am able to start it with a light blow so that it will hardly touch the anvil; then with a little pressure with my foot it will strike a blow as heavy as a helper with a 15-pound sledge. I can also regulate the speed from 100 to 300 strokes per minute. Being made entirely of steel, it is strong and will last a lifetime. Believing that the artist will be able to give a comprehensive sketch, I consider no further explanation necessary.
