Image Description:
A BAIRD PRESS

THE Baird Machine Co., Oakville, Conn., are manufacturing a variety of power presses, one of which is illustrated here with. This press is known as the Baird No. 1 bench press on an iron table. The manufacturers call attention to the roller clutch as being a distinctive feature. It is positive in its action allowing only one stroke of the plunger with each depression of the treadle. The action is instantaneous and so arranged that by the adjustment of a screw the press may be run continuously. All parts of the clutch are hardened and ground, thus insuring long life with the minimum of wear. A standard V-shaped gate, long and well gibbed, is provided. This design holds the punch and die securely in position and prolongs the life of these tools. Adjustment is obtained by means of a connecting eccentric. The shaft is turned from special steel, is made long and has large bearings. A bolster plate is regularly furnished with this machine. All parts are made on the interchangeable system and are carried in stock, making the replacement of broken or worn parts possible, quickly and cheaply.
