THE CROSBY AUTOMATIC CLUTCH.
The principal features of the Crosby automatic clutch for punching and drawing presses, etc., are shown in the accompanying illustrations. The clutch in its original form has been In use for a long time. In order to keep pace with the times, however, the manufacturers have invented an improvement which will be appreciated by those having occasion to use it. The clutch is so arranged that, when desired, only one stroke of the mandrel or cross head can be made unless the operator removes the pressure of his foot from the treadle. In order to make a second stroke, it is then necessary for the operator to apply another pressure on the treadle. The press, however, can be run continuously by changing the rod connecting the clutch haul off with the treadle to the other haul off stem, which requires but a moment to do.
The clutch is made by G. A. Crosby & Co., 176 South Clinton Street, Chicago, Ill.
