10-Inch Engine Lathe——Weighted Carriage.

WITHOUT SCREW OR BACK GEAR.

SWINGS 10¾ inches over bed, 5 inches over carriage. Has hole through spindle ½-inch diameter. Front bearing of live spindle 1½ inches diameter, 3 inches long. Cone of five grades, largest diameter 7 3/8 inches, for 2-inch belt. Bed 50 inches long; greatest distance between centers, 20 inches; convenient stop-motion mechanism upon the carriage may be adjusted for action at any point in its range of travel. Countershaft has tight and loose pulleys, 8x2¾ inches, and should make 140 revolutions per minute. Weight, with countershaft, 850 pounds.

The following attachments will be furnished to order, viz.: 9-inch face-plate, threaded and faced, at $2.00; follow-rest at $1.50; back rest at $6.50.

13-Inch Weighted Engine Lathe.

WITHOUT SCREW OR BACK GEAR.

SWINGS 13 inches over the bed and 5¾ inches over the carriage. It has a pulley-feed, three changes, from 60 to 160 per inch; a balanced cone of five grades, largest diameter 8½ inches, for 2-inch belt. The front bearing of the head spindle is 1¾ inches diameter and 3 3/8 inches long; the boxes are of cast-iron, lined with genuine Babbitt-metal. Screw thread on spindle of face-plate, 1¾ inches diameter, 8 pitch. All the parts are perfectly ?tted, insuring accuracy in turning, squaring-up, and boring. A hole through the head spindle will receive rods up to 9/16-inch diameter, for convenience of cutting into lengths, turning studs, etc. A convenient stop-motion device, attached to the carriage, may be set for action at any point in its range of travel. Slate’s Taper Attachment is furnished with this lathe, when ordered. Wrenches and countershaft go with the lathe. Lathe with bed 4 feet long receives 20 inches between centers, and weighs 990 pounds, Beds are made 4 to 6 feet long Back gears furnished to order, with cone of dimensions put upon 13-inch screw lathe, described on page 22. Speed of countershaft, having 10x2¾-inch tight and loose pulleys, 140 revolutions per minute.
