Image Description:
A Machine Screwdriver

The operation of driving woodscrews of which millions are used annually, has until recently been performed entirely by hand. The accompanying illustration shows a machine which has recently been put on the market for doing this work automatically.

The screws are dumped into the hopper where the machine quickly arranges them, point down, ready to be fed to the driving parts. The work is then placed on the table and a pressure of the foot lever drives the screw home. The speed is limited only by the rapidity with which the work can be placed in position, and as both hands are free this can be done very rapidly.

The machine may also be used for wood boring and for light drilling by removing the screw driving parts and inserting a drill or wood bit in the spindle.

This novel machine is built by the Moline Tool Co. of Moline, Ill.
