From about 1909 until the mid-1950s, and perhaps both before and after that range. This company, founded by Bert Arthur Linderman, made dovetailing machines, ripsaws, and glue jointers.

Information Sources

  • 1909 patent to Bert A. Linderman for a lumber-joining machine. The patent was not assigned.
  • An ad in the September 1909 issue of "Wood Craft" features "The Linderman Automatic Dovetail Glue Jointer."
  • Ad for used tablesaw in 1917 catalog.
  • An ad in a 1920 issue of The Wood-Worker lists a used "Jointer, Linderman, auto., glue, 4-ft., very fine."
  • According to patent records, by 1925 Bert Linderman had moved to New York City. He received one patent for a snow-compressing machine, and then a whole series of patents related to automotive braking systems. Some of these were assigned to Linderman & Co. of Wilmington, DE. A 1947 patent (to Joseph Norstrom and Alvin L. Smith, both of Newburgh, NY) for an automotive brake system was assigned to Muskegon Machine Co. The last patent assigned to this company was a 1955 dovetailing machine patent that was granted to Alvin L. Smith.
