Saw for cutting printing type, labeled "Cost Cutter Saw, manufactured by Breidenbach Mfg Co for The Pate Co of 124 N. Pulaski Rd. Chicago Ill". This saw - a "Model A" - was rescued from the junk heap in 1970, so it presumably was made well before then.

Like the Hammond Trim-O-Saw and Hammond Glider, the Cost Cutter saw can be modified to be a wood-cutting saw.

The City of Chicago library searched their archives on our behalf for information on Breidenbach. They were listed in the 2001 "Sorkins Directory of Business & Government Chicago Edition." The listed number is disconnected; the profile says that the company was founded in 1960, and is a machine shop performing mill and lathe work, drilling, cutting, boring and general and CNC machining. The research librarian also checked the "Illinois Secretary of State Certified List of Domestic and Foreign Corporations," editions 1924 to 1961 and this was the only Breidenbach Manufacturing Company listed.
