From 1885 until at least 1909, the New Brunswick Foundry & Machine Shop, operated by McFarlane, Thompson & Anderson, manufactured a patented shingle machine. By 1913 McFarlane, Thompson & Anderson had been succeeded the Smith Foundry Co., Ltd., which dropped the use of the "New Brunswick Foundry & Machine Shop" name.
