By 1855 Lysander Wright and William C. Huntington were manufacturing woodworking machinery under the name Wright & Huntington. In 1859 the partnership ended and the name changed to L. Wright's Machine Depot. In 1862 Charles B. Smith teamed up with Wright, and the name changed to Wright & Smith. Sometime afterwards Smith left and the name changed to L. Wright Machine Works.
