In 1873, Joseph B. Wright exhibited a treadle-powered scrollsaw. In December of that year he was granted a patent for the driving mechanism. We have never seen a surviving example, nor have we seen any ads or articles confirming that he manufactured his scrollsaw.

There is another small scroll or gig saw for foot-power made by J. B. Wright, of 140 Centre street. It will saw wood, metal, iron, etc., and is so effective that the inventor calls it The Little Giant.
