This partnership acquired the rights to Waymoth's patent variety lathe from A. D. Waymoth in the early 1870s. Besides making semi-automatic lathes, Wilder & Brown used their lathes to manufacture products, including two million buttons per month for ladies' dresses.
By 1875 the Wilder-Brown partnership had ended, and the result seems to have been James H. Brown manufacturing the Waymoth lathe under his name, and Charles W. Wilder manufacturing under his name.
