James L. Taylor Mfg. Co. was established in 1911 to produce James L. Taylor's patented bar clamps for edge gluing boards into panels. In the 1920s the company developed a "clamp carrier" to assist in mass production of panels. Beginning in the 1940s they developed a series of products aimed at automatic the process of producing edge-glued panels. In the 1990s they began making a fenceless automated ripsaw for use in panel making. The company remains in business today.
