If you have information to add to this entry, please contact the Site Historian.

This company was founded in 1911 and makes electric motors. Their name changed to Fasco Industries, Inc. in 1950. Since then some other names have appeared, such as Fasco Controls, Fasco Die Cast, and Fasco Consumer Products; it appears that they are all related.

From about the 1930s through about the 1950s F. A. Smith Manufacturing Co. made various motorized appliances, including fans, electric pencil sharpeners, a portable electric drill, and a small scrollsaw.

We cannot provide information on this company beyond what is already here. Please note that this web site is focused on metal-working machinery, wood-working machinery, and stationary engines, and we do not attempt to exhaustively list this company's other products.

Information Sources

  • The Fasco web site provided the born-on date and the connection to F. A. Smith Co.
  • The information on the scrollsaw comes from scrollsaws.com.
  • The range of dates for producing motorized products is guesstimated based on the industrial design of various products whose images we found by a web search.
  • The last patent issued to F. A. Smith Manufacturing Co. was on 1950-08-29. The first patent issued to Fasco Industries was on the very same date. Given the lag time in processing patents, the name change probably happened some months before.
