This horizontal bandsaw maker began as an agricultural implement maker, D. R. Ellis Manufacturing Co. In the early 1970s, a sister firm, Ellis Machine Tool Co., introduced a line of horizontal bandsaws that were capable of making miter cuts. In 1982 the new companies merged to create Ellis Manufacturing Co., Inc., and eventually added drill presses and a belt grinder to their product portfolio.
