Founded as a partnership between John W. Briggs and Frederick J. Force, this firm sold new and used machinery. It was dissolved in 1902 when Briggs bought out Force's interest and renamed the firm, Briggs Machinery Co. The new firm specialized in handling woodworking machinery and gas engines.
