Pootatuck Corp. dates back to about 1925, and made the well-known Lion miter trimmer. Their machines were manufactured in Claremont, but the company's mailing address was Windsor. The company was later located in Lynn, Mass., and we have also seen machines and paperwork giving addresses in Reading, Mass., Shelton, Conn., Bridgeport, Conn., and Stratford, Conn.

As of 2015, all phone numbers and web addresses associated with Pootatuck and Lion miter trimmers are out of service. It appears the company is defunct. However, last we heard the Lion miter trimmers are still being built to order. Their phone number is (774) 254-0775 and email is lionmitertrimmer@verizon.net.

At some point in their history, perhaps in the 1950s, Pootatuck produced a line of kits to build various bench-top metalworking machines: a shaper with 6-inch stroke; 7-inch bench lathe and 8-inch screw-cutting lathe; and three milling machine models.

Pootatuck is the maker of the Lion miter trimmer , a guillotine-style miter trimmer that is exceptionally accurate and relatively low cost. The tool uses razor-sharp knives to do the trimming, leaving an exceedingly smooth cut. This is the only American-made version of a guillotine miter cutter. Pootatuck sells by mail order, as well as serving as manufacturer and distributor. The company will send a free brochure, on request. Pootatuck takes MasterCard and Visa.
