CLEVELAND STEAM GAUGE COMPANY

      The above mentioned enterprise is one of the solid institutions in this city. This company invest a capital stock of $50,000, and do an annual business of 135,000, which is located from Maine to California. This corporation are the sole proprietors and manufacturers of Watson's portable forge, Watson's forge blower, Watson's barrel filler, Holt's patent steam gauges for locomotives and stationary engines, locomotive spring balances, test pumps and test gauges; and last, but not least, manufacturers of the H. L. Emery Universal cotton gin. This gin is claimed by all who have ever tried it to be one of the best machines ever put up. These gins can be run with horse or steam power, and are warranted to give entire satisfaction. The works of this company are located on West Street, in a building one hundred and twenty-five feet square. So great has been the sale of the Universal cotton gins that a new stock company will be organized next year for their manufacture. The officers of the company are: President, D. W. Cross, Esq.; Vice President, J. E. French; Superintendent, J. P. Holt; Secretary and Treasurer, W. S. Dodge, all of whom are well and favorably known in this city. The office is at 211 Superior Street.
