In 1876, Gustaves Lennartson and Lues G. Bertstrom were granted a patent for a miter machine; the patent was assigned to Lennartson. In 1878 Lennartson was granted a patent that constituted an improvement to the original miter machine design. Both of these patents were referenced in the U. S. Appeals Court, Sixth Circuit decision in Fox v. Perkins
, which also noted that "many of these Lennartson machines were manufactured and in practical use at Erie, Pa., as early as 1877." Thus far we have not found any ads or articles on the Lennartson miter machines, nor do we have any direct evidence of the name they were made under, so "G. Lennartson" is our best guess.
