USPTO = U.S. Patent Office . Images of the actual patent can be viewed on the U.S. Patent Office web site but a special TIFF viewer must be installed with your browser in order properly work. DATAMP = Directory of American Tool And Machinery Patents . A sister site to VintageMachinery.org with information on patents related to machinery and tools. A much easier user interface than the USPTO's for finding information on machinery patents.

Patent Number Date Title Name City Description
274,020 Mar. 13, 1883 Wood-boring machine John M. Nash Hudson, WI "The object of this invention is to provide a machine for boring by a single operation a number of holes at different angles to each other, such as are required in chair-legs, &c."
In 1890, inventor Nash began manufacturing sanding machines under his own name. Since his machines were aimed primarily at the furniture industry, as is this patent, it is quite possible that this design was also manufactured by J. M. Nash. At this time, though that is purely conjecture.
