The 1849-01-04 "Farmer and Mechanic" carried an ad for "Law's Newly Invented Stave Dressing and Jointing Machine.—This machine dresses and joints the rived staves of ALL shapes and dimensions, without assorting or waste of stock, finishing them in a beautiful manner, ready for the Truss Hoop, at the rate of 6 to 8 staves per minute. It needs only to be seen to be approved. A machine will be in operation, at Wm. Bardon's, 102 Front Street, Brooklyn, every working day, between 9 and 12 A. M." The 1848-12-09 Scientific American confirms that Law was mkaing the machines: "Mr. Law... has brought on his machines from Wilminton, N. c. and set them in operation in Mr. Burdon's Foundy, No. 100 Front st. Brookyn." |
