This century firm made geared-head lathes. So far as we can tell, they were only in business in the 1940s.

The 1942 and 1944 editions of Biennial Report and Industrial Directory of the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Inspector of Factories and Workshops of the State of Oregon lists "Bamford Chase Machine Co., 1433 NW. Quimby St., Portland, machine assembling".
A 1943 issue of The Timberman has an ad that lists "aircraft veneer slicers" from this firm. A 1943 edition of Veneers and Plywood has an inquiry from a correspondent who asked, "Do you know the address of the Bamford Chase Machine Co.? I understand they are building a veneer slicer.— Illinois."

The Smithsonian catalog lists a 1945 catalog.
A 1946 issue of The Timberman has an ad that mentions a used "Bamford-Chase 4-Saw Panel Cutoff".
A Practical Machinist forum discussion has pictures of a 16x48 geared-head lathe.
