In the late 1920s this firm manufactured metal-working machinery for automotive manufacture and repair. In the early 1930s the name changed to Stiles-Barrett Co. and then to Barrett Manufacturing Co.

... he joined Stiles-Herman Co., St. Louis, as chief engineer and exploited his brake service patents. In the early '30s he became partner in Stiles-Barret Co., St. Louis, of which he became owner three years later and renamed it Barrett Equipment Co.
