In 1893 Frederick Maytag established Maytag Washing Machine Co. At some point it became the Maytag Co., and in 1925 it re-incorporated as Maytag, Inc.
Maytag began as a manufacturer of washing machines, and they added other home appliances over the years. None of these are of interest to this Vintage Machinery website, whose focus is on woodworking and metalworking machinery, engines and motors, vises and handheld power tools. However, they did manufacture a gasoline engine that was used to power some of their early washing machines, and that is why Maytag is listed here.
